🚚 After the Dance: The BATB Van Playlist
A 37-hour archive of music from the road home — slow mornings, heavy loads, still half-floating 🪐
For many years after every Beauty & the Beat, the van ride home was a ritual of its own.
Speakers and wooden panels packed alongside bikes, friends crammed illegally into the back. The city still humming, bodies loose, senses lit. No one in a rush. Just the last quiet helos across North East London — dropping off stacks, stories, and whoever was still riding the wave.
Scott Pelloux was often there, portable speakers in hand. He’d cue up tunes that caught the mood — somewhere between float and freefall, the sound of a night slowly dissolving. Maybe a joint was still going round. The ti’ punch was long gone by this point. Sometimes you’d end up at Cedric’s for one last pause before the real end.
This playlist comes from those rides — 37 hours of tracks that once filled the van, tracing the soft chaos of the afterglow.
Music for hazy eyes and open windows. For drifting conversations and altered gravity.
There’s no concept, no genre logic — but there is an aesthetic. A way of listening that follows feeling, not formula. Music chosen to hold the moment.
And now it really is memory — as of last month, BATB no longer uses the van. The speakers and panels live at the venue now. The road is shorter. The weight is lighter. But the feeling, and the sound, is still with us.

📸 We’ve also included some van photos — the gear, the loading, the mornings.
This one’s for the heads who were there — and the ones who understand without needing to be.
